Chiamei was born in Taiwan where she began her piano and formal music education at the age of 5. She then also studied clarinet, and eventually double majored in both instruments. In 1997 she moved to New York to study piano with Dr. Ana Maria Trench Bottazzi (Steinway Artist, featured in The Most Wanted Piano Teachers in the USA).
Chiamei received her Bachelor of Arts in Music at SUNY Stony Brook, and a Master of Music in Piano Performance with scholarship at CCM. In addition, she holds a certification of Orff-Schulwerk Advanced Teaching Training.
Chiamei currently resides in the Bay Area with her husband and 2 daughters. She owns a private music studio in San Jose and dedicates her time to cultivating students’ passion in music. In addition to piano and theory teaching, she also has past experience in teaching music appreciation and training young college teachers in piano accompaniment.
With over 25 years of teaching experience, Chiamei emphasizes the development of each student’s musical potential and personal abilities. Many of her students have won top honors and distinguished awards. She also creates opportunities for students to engage their communities through musical activities and services. Chiamei inspires students with a deep appreciation of their respective backgrounds and helps them share their musical experience to enrich the lives of those that they serve.
